National Parks
The surrounding countryside offers relaxing walks, horse riding, mountain biking and hiking in the beautiful Sierra Espuna National Park.  The 25000 hectare national park is home to many species of birds including Sparrow Hawks and Golden Eagles.  There are bird hides and picnic areas throughout the park.

Murcia City – the regional capital is only 20 minutes drive from Hacienda del Alamo.  The city offers a variety cultural, shopping, theatre, arts and dining experiences. 

Beaches - Hacienda del Alamo is in the perfect position for exploring the beaches of the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor.  Mazarron has beautiful sandy beaches and a harbour with many cafes.  There is plenty to explore on land and under the water with one of the scuba diving clubs.  Los Alcazares is a popular coastal town located on the Mar Menor.  The Mar Menor, inland sea, is perfect for families and great for all types of water sports including sailing and wind-surfing.

Cartagena City – the 2nd city of Murcia is 30 minutes from Hacienda del Alamo.  Here you can explore the cultural delights of this ancient Carthagian/Roman city.  The splendid new harbour area is a cruise ship destination.  There plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops to visit. 

All of the places mentioned have year round fiestas and carnivals from the excitement of Mardi Gras to more solumn Semana Santa (Easter week), to the spectacle of the Roman and Carthagian festivals.  There are also many theatre and music events through out the year including the world famous San Javier Jazz festival.  Past concerts have been performed by none other than the likes of George Benson, Randy Crawford and Roberta Flack.
